Annika was the original owner of Centerville Yoga, where I began my yoga practice and started coaching clients on Cape Cod! I've enjoyed witnessing her journey as a mom and entrepreneur this past decade. I felt honored when she came to me this summer for support through her own anxiety. We have such similar personalities (sensitive dreamers!)
I appreciate her honesty and vulnerability through our work together and sharing a bit of it here publicly.
My intern, Christie, wrote a personal essay about being a busy college-student and I absolutely love the truth of it all! I'm sure you can relate. I know I can as a new mom, entrepreneur and a sensitive-introvert who sometimes just needs some space and quiet time in between the busy-ness.
I think it's a good time of year to share because sometimes the summer can create even more anxiety. There is so much we try to fit in in a few short months while the weather is nice, especially here in the Northeast. There are lots of events and rushing around and we still have to work, do laundry, run errands, etc. It's not all sitting around at the beach, even here on Cape Cod!
After I shared that our son arrived, someone on Instagram asked me if I encountered anxiety during labor and if so, how I got through.
I love this question and I’m glad she asked it! I've been pondering it ever since. I feel it's important to discuss, so here I am! Additionally, three of my past coaching clients are pregnant (also with boys!), so I thought this may be helpful.
In all honesty, I did not experience anxiety while in labor.
Don’t get me wrong-it was the most INTENSE and OVERWHELMINGLY emotio...
When we returned from our family trip to California, it was time to begin the IVF process. (You can read Part 1, Part 2 and Part 3 if you'd like to read the struggles and journey to this big decision!)
Once we decided to take the IVF route, I felt a weight lifted off of my shoulders. I knew it would be emotional and difficult at times, but I wasn't going to be alone. My husband, John, was fully on board and we had close family and friends who prayed for us every step of the way.
