Facing fears as an entrepreneur

Okay, I have some truths I want to share.

At 18 years old, I started to officially enter the entrepreneur world. It seemed so exciting.

Create my own schedule? Work from home? Travel when I want? Do work I love? Make as much money as I want-no limits?!

As a dreamer, it seemed so limitless! I could imagine myself creating MY life.

But there was the inner voice saying I was too shy, too young, too sensitive, too anxious...not good enough or big enough or smart enough.

There were times I wanted to GIVE UP. I’m not lying. I remember crying to a friend and saying it was too hard...I would never be able to be where I want to be. She gave me some tough love and helped me reframe the negative thoughts.

We both knew I wasn’t going to give up. I continued my coaching trainings and certifications. As a health coach, I changed what I was putting in my BODY. Then I became a Mastery level transformational life coach and changed the limiting beliefs in my MIND. I was able to transform my mindset and move forward-no longer feeling less than. I had a whole new excitement for my path.

All of this has allowed me to realize there really are no limits and we just need to find our own purpose and talents. When we do what brings us joy, everything shifts in life. Since then, I’ve been able to face fears, grow, and actually create my own life. The gratitude I have for these experiences is amazing. I've been able to run two growing businesses and have learned so so much!

I want to cry as I write this because if you are struggling as an entrepreneur, I get you more than you may realize... And I want to help you let go of those icky feelings and have more moments of hope and excitement.

Here are a few quick tips if you've been feeling overwhelmed, stressed, or frustrated with your business:

1. When you want to give up, GET CURIOUS.

What is making you feel icky in your business? Maybe you are feeling worried about money. Maybe you are working long hours and feeling tired. Maybe you are comparing yourself to friends with 9-5 jobs and a 401k. Dig into the reason you have felt held back and get curious about it. This will allow you a chance to reflect and see what is stressing you lately. Once you dig deep, you will probably notice that it's because you want to feel safe, secure, loved and as you fit in with everyone around you. That's totally normal! Then it will help you decide if it's worth it to keep moving forward with your vision.

2. If it scares you, but will help you grow, DO IT.

Staying small and being afraid of being judged or losing money won't get you very far in business. You need to take leaps and embrace the fear because those are the things that will allow you to get noticed and valued. If your voice shakes, speak anyway. Share your passion and story for why you do what you do. Reach out to others to refer and network. Make a list of things that scare you and start setting dates for them.

3. Self-care it UP.

You don't get very far if you're exhausted and depleted. People aren't going to want to work with you if you don't even appear to take care of yourself. Every day set time aside to take care of you and only you. 15 minutes of yoga, walking, napping, painting, etc. You'll feel more energized and productive.

4. Find a cheerleader/tough-love giver. NOW.

If you have people telling you to give up, you may want to make some adjustments. If you are the only one cheering for you, it's time to find more cheerleaders who tell you to keep going no matter what. They will have positive things to say to keep you moving forward even when you don't feel like it. They may even be able to give you some tough-love like my friend did a few years back. (Want me to be your coach?! Keep reading!)

I know we are all different. What works for you is different than someone else. It’s not easy to go by a business blueprint. You are creating your life and it helps to get the support from someone who understands that. I’m not here to give you business advice. I’m here to help you embrace and trust your path as you build your brand and vision.
