Show Yourself Some Love!

February, the month of love. What if you could love YOURSELF more this month?

It’s my birthday!

And as MY birthday gift to you, I thought I’d share some of my favorite self-love tips.

A few years ago I struggled with self-care and self-love. I worked a lot, did exercises I hated, ate junk food, and didn’t like to spend money on myself. However, I was always there for everyone else when they needed me…

Of course I soon realized I couldn’t continue to lead my life that way because I was constantly sick and tired. I was gaining weight consistently and hated to look in the mirror.

Self-care and self-love was way overdue.

When you use excuses of time, money, family and friends as an excuse for taking better care of yourself, you de-value your potential.

I have personally learned that I can’t be a good wife, daughter, sister, friend and coach if I am not taking good care of myself.

Here are some simple tips to create self-love in your life each day:

  • Write yourself a love note. (Post-it in your car)

  • Book a massage or pedicure.

  • Do a facial at home.

  • Take a hot lavender bubble bath.

  • Buy yourself fresh flowers.

  • Eat nourishing and satisfying meals. (This time of year I love roasted vegetables, homemade gluten-free baked goods, cinnamon and apple oatmeal, peanut butter with honey, chai tea latte with almond milk and trail mix)

  • Look in the mirror and say an affirmation out loud. For example, “I love you, (NAME). You are beautiful inside and out. You radiate love, passion, energy and confidence.”

  • Avoid social media for a whole day. (You can do it!)

  • Do something creative that you enjoy. Try to sing, dance, play an instrument, draw, paint, or take photos of nature.

  • Take a nap.

  • Cuddle up by the fire with a book. (One of my favorites)

What is one of your fave ways to show yourself some love?? Share below!

XOXO Shayna
